Council approves lease agreement for Cedar Crescent Village

Saugeen Shores council has approved the lease agreement for Cedar Crescent Village.

In a recorded vote, the motion passed 7-1 with Councillor Jami Smith abstaining from voting due to a conflict of interest.

Councillor Matt Carr was the single vote against it.

“Being self-employed myself, I have an issue with [the no competition clause]. If I want to go buy Sea-Doos and start renting them off the beach, is that considered competition? How far can we take this?" said Carr.

Lead proponent Pier Donnini said they plan to address what concerns Carr and other residents may still have, but he is excited to officially be moving forward.

Donnini added they will also be looking to the public for recommendations regarding the overall appearance and aesthetic of the building

He said he would like to see the Grand Opening set for Canada Day in 2021.
