Schools closed across province for ETFO strike

Schools were closed across the province on Tuesday due to a one-day strike.

The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario is fighting against several issues such as funding cuts and increased class sizes. Local ETFO Executive Member at Large Darrell Uhler said right now, the ball is in the government's court.

"As of right now, we haven't received any information from the provincial office. Everybody is waiting patiently to receive that to find out what's going to happen next."

He said teachers and supporters are hoping a deal can be reached soon because they want to be back in the classroom.

Schools in the Avon Maitland District School Board were also affected by rotating strikes on Monday.

Another day of rotating school board strikes is planned for Thursday.
