Snowmobiler killed in crash southeast of Ethel

One person is dead and another has been injured following a crash involving two snowmobiles near Ethel.

The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police said on Monday shortly before 8:46 p.m., the two snowmobiles collided on a section of the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs trail located between Krauter Line and Henfryn Line.

Two snowmobile operators were rushed to a local hospital where one succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the person killed is not being released until next of kin have been notified.

The other snowmobiler suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The snowmobile trail has been closed to allow police to conduct an investigation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
