Listowel Cyclones hosting United Way event tomorrow night

The Listowel Cyclones will host Perth-Huron United Way Friday night for United Way Night at the Cyclones.

The North Perth chair of the Community Committee for United Way, Shelly Blackmore, said Friday night's event will be about showcasing their Paint the Town Red campaign.

"Not only do we have Paint the Town Red here in Listowel in North Perth, we have one in Stratford, Exeter, Goderich, Mitchell and Milverton. The whole idea is to encourage people to shop local and to support their local restaurants and retailers," she said.

Blackmore said Paint the Town Red runs from Thursday until Sunday. She also noted that Paint the Town Red involves local businesses putting a red bow at the front of their establishment.

"They're donating a portion of their sales or proceeds from a featured product. All of the money that's collected is going to be matched by Scotia Bank up to $15,000."

United Way reps will be at the Cyclones game sharing information about their many initiatives locally as the Cyclones host the Cambridge Redhawks. Puck drop is 7:30 p.m.
