OSSTF Members picket in Huron and Perth

Members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation were manning picket lines in front of Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson’s office in Blyth, at the Avon Maitland District School Board Education Centre in Seaforth and at Market Square in Stratford yesterday.

District 8 President Shane Restall said they'll continue to do whatever they can to protect public education in Ontario.

“Next Friday, all districts and all affiliates are having another full day strike and that's all of the unions and all of the districts province-wide so we're hoping that that will maybe get the government's attention.”

Restall added as far as the teachers are concerned, compensation is a very minor issue.

“Certainly the main sticking point is the increase in class size, which is gonna lead to the cancellation of thousands of classes province-wide," he said.  "And of course, the lack of money to support high-needs students is an important thing for OSSTF members as well.”
