Wiarton's 'Big Dig' moves ahead

South Bruce Peninsula council received an update on Wiarton's "Big Dig".

The reconstruction design on Berford Street is now 90 per cent complete.

The Big Dig, which is expected to begin in April, will extend from Division Street to Elm Street, and also allow for improved landscaping and pedestrian amenities.

The project was estimated to cost approximately $7.8 million, but according to Mayor Janice Jackson, the final cost will likely be slightly higher than that.

Tendering for the "Big Dig" will likely begin next month.
