BlackburnNews.com imageThe Township of Mapleton is banning all large fires, greater than two metres by two metres.
Until further notice, no burn permits will be issued by the township.
In a release, Fire Chief Rick Richardson says the goal is to reduce the risk of fire in the Township and support local emergency responders during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Anyone who violates the ban will be fined.
A number of other local municipalities have also instituted various bans.
