Saugeen Shores residents are being asked to take steps to avoid attracting bears after several sightings recently.
A bulletin from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says residents have reported several interactions, with most involving bird feeders and garbage.
Bears are often attracted to both, as well as odours from barbecues and ripe fruit left on trees or on the ground.
Natural food for bears in the area is considered below-average, and when food is limited, bears will sometimes venture in to populated areas in search of something to eat.
If a bear poses a threat to public safety or is showing threatening or aggressive behaviour, people should contact 911.
