Stolen property leads to stolen vehicle in West Grey

A Walkerton man faces charges after police got a call about a break-in at a Bentinck home.

The homeowners told West Grey Police on April 9 that their garage had been broken into and tools, a .22 calibre rifle and ammunition were missing. The homeowners were able to give police a description of the suspect and the vehicle he was driving.

Police eventually found the vehicle on Mulock Road that same day and arrested a lone male without incident.

Through a further investigation, it was determined that the black, Dodge Journey that was found was stolen from Teeswater.

A 29-year old man from Walkerton faces charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000, break and enter, possession of break-in instruments and possession of counterfeit money.

West Grey police said an investigation is still on-going and ask Bentinck residents to check their properties and to call police if there are any missing items.
