No backyard chickens in Wellington North

Wellington North council has no interest in allowing backyard chicken coops.

Mount Forest resident Mark Baldock recently asked council to reconsider a 2017 council decision that banned them. He wrote that there are residents who would like to have a backyard chicken coop. He suggested that six or fewer chickens in a small, secure backyard coop would be appropriate.

No one on council supported the suggestion.

The only alternative left is for the homeowner to seek an official zoning bylaw amendment.
