Suspects sleeping in car busted for drug possession

Two Owen Sound men have been charged after the pair was allegedly found sleeping in a car with a quantity of illegal drugs and stolen property.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers responded to a complaint about a suspicious vehicle behind a business at Highway 6 and Highway 21 in Georgian Bluffs on Tuesday at around 8:54 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found the two men asleep in the vehicle. The two men were arrested and police seized stolen property, along with drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Following an investigation, officers also located and recovered an SUV that had been reported stolen last week.

As a result, 20-year-old Robert Jackson and 23-year-old Luther Shipley, both of Owen Sound, are charged with possession property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of methamphetamine, and using an unauthorized licence plate on a vehicle.

Both men have been released with a future court date.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
