Bruce County resident loses thousands to CRA scam

South Bruce OPP are investigating after a resident in the Municipality of Kincardine fell victim to a scam.

Police were told yesterday that the victim got a phone call allegedly from "Revenue Canada" regarding an overdue amount owing and payment by Bitcoin was demanded.

The scam was successful as $4,000 was sent to the con artist.

Tech-savvy scammers use technology to create very convincing schemes to trick you into sending them money, so people need to verify any unsolicited contact.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
