Erosion around pier in Bayfield

The mayor of Bluewater says high water levels are creating some erosion problems around the pier in Bayfield.

Paul Klopp said staff has been given direction from council to try and protect what's left of the road because the waves are slowly eroding few feet at a time.

"But we didn't want have to spend a lot of money because the water table has to go down before we can fix anything," said Klopp. "As it turned out, the Pioneer Park also had an issue, so they worked together and they did some remedial work.  It's not perfect but I think they did a good job of trying to keep the waves from destroying any more of the shoreline."

A longer-term solution will be looked at once the water table goes down.
