Community hall in South Huron to be torn down

The Centralia Community Hall in South Huron will be torn down.

Mayor George Finch said council made the difficult decision after several fire code violations were found and usage of the hall dropped off significantly.

"We've found that the usage has dropped quite a bit. We did have it inspected by our Fire Prevention Officer and there were several fire code violations in that report and because the usage had dropped, council came to the decision that it is now time to demolish the building," said Finch.

Finch added they are working with the community to create a monument to recognize the Centralia Community Hall.
