Golf Fore Hospice in Walkerton

Fifty teams of four people will be hitting the links in support of hospice care in Grey/Bruce.

Event organizer Joe Rys said teams filled up very quickly, which shows how residents in South Bruce/Grey have been very supportive over the years.

"I think this is another way to show we do care for each other, and we do care for ourselves and we want to make sure that we give the best possible opportunity for people," said Rys.

All funds raised will be donated to Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce.

"Dying is just the last part of life. But if you can have the opportunity as you pass away, to have it with family members around you, to have it in a nice setting, that's a wonderful thing," added Rys.

Golf Fore Hospice is taking place at the Walkerton Golf and Curling Club on Tuesday, August 11. Teams will be teeing off every 15 minutes starting at 6 a.m.

Rys said he is hoping each team can raise $500, which would mean $50,000 for the whole event.

Anyone looking for more information and/or would like to donate to the cause, you can contact Rys at 519-881-1953. Cheques can be made out to Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce.
