Saugeen Shores looks at options to open pool

Saugeen Shores is looking at reopening Centennial Pool.

It would be a gradual, phased-in approach to keep the safety of everyone, including staff and users, in mind.

The town is also using a public poll to determine what the community's desire is when it comes to returning to the facility, what programs they're looking for and how often it would be used. The operation of the pool in Saugeen Shores would be different due to physical distancing measures and a limit to the capacity.

"Aquatics is an important part of many residents' physical and mental health," said Mayor Luke Charbonneau. "We welcome the public back to Centennial Pool with the new measures in place to mitigate risks during the pandemic."

The survey can be done online before August 18 at SaugeenShores.ca/HaveYourSay. There are also paper copies available at the municipal office.

The pool has been closed since March 13 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
