New commander on the job at Grey Bruce OPP

A new detachment commander is leading the Grey Bruce OPP detachment.

Acting Inspector Paul Schambers started in his new role on August 2.

He grew up in the Wiarton area and started his policing career with the Toronto Police Service in 1990.

In 1996, he joined the OPP and went on to be a detective with the Anti-Rackets and the Child Exploitation Unit, a Detective Sergeant with the Professional Standards Bureau and the Sergeant Major for West Region.

He recently served as the interim detachment commander and acting inspector role at the Ottawa detachment.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
