Fentanyl and an imitation firearm seized in Owen Sound

A Sauble Beach man has been charged after police seized drugs and a gun during an arrest in Owen Sound.

On Tuesday afternoon, police spotted a man who they knew to be breaching multiple bail conditions by attending the residence of a domestic violence victim at an east side apartment building.

Police said when officers attempted to arrest the man, he made an attempt to distance himself from a knapsack that he had been carrying.

Once the man was in custody, police discovered an amount of highly toxic purple fentanyl and an imitation firearm in the knapsack.

A 32-year-old Sauble Beach man is now charged with four counts of failing to comply with a recognizance, possession of fentanyl, carrying a concealed weapon, assault with the intent to resist arrest.

He will remain in custody pending the outcome of a bail hearing on Wednesday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
