Contractor airlifted to hospital following workplace accident

A contractor has been airlifted to hospital following a workplace accident.

On August 20 at 10:20 a.m., Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services and Seaforth Fire Department responded to a call for assistance at an Egmondville property located at the corner of Kippen Road and Stapleton Avenue.

While working at a vacant lot, an excavated area collapsed around the contractor, trapping them in a deep trench. The victim was quickly freed from the pile and rushed to hospital.

The 64-year-old victim remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Ministry of Labour has been called in to investigate the incident.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
