UPDATE: Missing Owen Sound man found dead

A 27-year-old Owen Sound male who went missing on Wednesday has been found dead.

Members of the OPP announced that Joshua Thompson's body was found at the West Rocks Management Area Saturday morning.

Thompson was last seen leaving his residence on 4th Avenue East in Owen Sound in a white Dodge minivan at 7:30 p.m on Wednesday. His van was found later on at the West Rocks Management Area, on Concession 3 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

The OPP began a full search of the area, with assistance from the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), West Region Canine Unit, and OPP Aviation Services in an effort to find Thompson. Police say his death is not suspicious, and they are thanking the public for their assistance.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
