Deadly fire being investigated by police

The Grey-Bruce OPP continue to investigate a recent deadly fire.

On August 15th at 7:55 a.m., officers responded alongside local fire and EMS crews to a structure fire at Mapleport Crescent, South Bruce Peninsula in Bruce County. The blaze engulfed an out-building on the property, which was extinguished by South Bruce Peninsula Fire Department. The body of a deceased individual was recovered from the burnt out structure.

Members of the Grey Bruce OPP Crime Unit and West Region OPP Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire. Police will not be releasing the name of the deceased until a post mortem is completed.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
