Hanover and District Hospital expands tissue and organ donation referral program

Hanover and District Hospital is expanding its tissue and organ donation referral program.

The program is in partnership with the Trillium Gift of Life Network, with the goal of saving lives through organ and tissue donation and identification of potential donors. As of October 1, Hanover and District Hospital will be reporting every patient's death to Trillium Gift of Life Network so that specially trained staff can identify potential donors and work with families to discuss options.

Just one organ or tissue donation can save up to eight lives and impact up to 75 others. 79 hospital corporations are now part of the Trillium Gift of Life Network in Ontario. In Ontario right now, up to 1,600 people are awaiting a life-saving organ transplant.

You can register to be a donor at http://BeADonor.ca. For more information on the Trillium Gift of Life Network, visit http://www.giftoflife.on.ca.
