Weapon charges laid in Grey County

Owen Sound Police responded to the city’s downtown core with regards to a man seen brandishing a handgun.

Police were notified around 6am yesterday when a concerned citizen reported that the individual was yelling and had the gun pointed at his own head.

Officers located the male in the 700 block of 1 st Avenue East. The 28-year-old Owen Sound resident, who was found to be under the influence of alcohol, was then taken into custody without incident.

He was also found to be wearing a light body armour vest, and the handgun was later determined to be a BB gun, black in colour.

He now faces criminal charges of carrying an imitation weapon and carrying a concealed weapon. His charges will be heard in the Owen Sound Court of Justice on November 5th.
