Emergency job listing posted by local school board

The Avon Maitland District School Board is advertising on their website for Emergency Unqualified Teachers in their elementary and secondary schools.

Superintendent, Jane Morris, points out this is definitely an emergency list so they can respond to whatever crisis arises, given the situation that all school boards are dealing with.

“We still have a fairly robust occasional teacher list and those teachers are all certified, qualified teachers and that obviously are going to be our preferred direction to fill any vacancies," said Morris. “If all of our supply teachers were deployed into classrooms, that we have people who have expressed an interest and have met some criteria that we've outlined on the job posting and are willing to come in to supervise in an emergency, short-term basis.”

But Morris says given the current situation it was important that they have a back-up list adding they have never posted for anything like this before, but is not a normal situation.
