Violent Robbery leads to arrest in Owen Sound

Owen Sound Police have a suspect in custody after a violent robbery that recently occurred at a west side apartment.

A 39-year-old Owen Sound man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a victim reported visiting the accused, and then being prevented from leaving.

Much of the victim’s property was stolen from him and he was repeatedly punched, kicked and struck with a weapon as he attempted to leave.

The victim later went to emergency at Owen Sound Hospital, where he was treated and released.

A search warrant related to the investigation was executed at a residence on 3rd Avenue West, where several items belonging to the victim were recovered along with the weapons that are alleged to have been used in the robbery. Police also located Crystal Methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $1,500.

The accused faces numerous charges including Robbery, Forcible Confinement, Assault with a weapon, Uttering Threats, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking. The accused has made an initial court appearance and currently remains in custody.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
