AMDSB brings awareness to World Mental Health Day

October 10th is World Mental Health Day. Avon Maitland Superintendent, Jodie Baker, says it was celebrated for the first time in 1992.

Baker says the AMDSB acknowledges Mental Health Day every year and points out their Mental and Well-Being Team has continued to grow as a result of funding from the Ministry of Education.

We work closely with our partners, we're trying to raise awareness, we're trying to reduce the stigma for people who have mental health challenges or illnesses and we really just want to ensure that our students and their families are supported.”

More details about the work the board is doing in their schools can be found on the Mental Health and Well-being page of the AMDSB website.
