Local artist tasked with creating new downtown mural

A Goderich artist is working on a mural behind the Mini Market on the main street in Seaforth.

Tova Hasiwar said Huron East Economic Development Officer Jan Hawley noticed the mural she had done on the side of at her store, Tovally Vintage, on the Square in Goderich and contacted her through Facebook.

"She told me she was doing a sort of revitalization project with the alleyway here in Seaforth," said Hasiwar.

Hasiwar said she got the idea for the mural as she was driving through Seaforth on the way to meet Hawley.

"I remember when driving through Seaforth when I was coming up to meet her and I was just kind of seeing the canopy of trees, so it's going to be like a pink pathway with the sunset and a canopy of trees, all different colours, kind of represents the changing of the seasons."

Hasiwar said another artist will be adding a three-dimensional painting of an old penny farthing bicycle. She said she expects the entire mural to be done by the end of October.
