Bruce County looks at ride-for-hire strategy

Bruce County hopes to pave the way for a ride-for-hire service in the area.

The Transportation and Environmental Services Committee has approved the interim strategy to develop capacity for a taxi, Uber or Lyft type services.

The published highlights from county council's recent meeting say the Master Transportation Plan will address ride-for-hire transportation, setting conditions to modernize affordable taxi services.

The County is expected to create legislation that will seize the opportunity for services like Uber and Lyft to operate in Bruce County when they express interest.

Currently, the responsibility for ride for hire services lies squarely with lower-tier municipalities
