COVID-19 case detected at Brockton high school

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is reporting a positive case of COVID-19 associated with Sacred Heart High School in Walkerton.

The health unit reported the positive case late Thursday evening and added that the virus was not transmitted at the school.  Health officials are working to notify any close contacts who may have come into contact with the virus. Anyone not contacted by public health officials is not considered to be at risk.

"Currently, there are no outbreaks, that is evidence of transmission from person to person, in any schools or childcare centres in Grey Bruce," the health unit said in a news release.

The school will remain open and buses will run normally.

The health unit has not stated if the positive case is a student or staff member at the high school.
