New North Perth library branch in Monkton ready to open

The new Monkton library will open Tuesday at its new location at the Elma Logan Rec Complex.

North Perth Library CEO Rebecca Dechert-Sage said it's part of an addition to the complex that includes a childcare centre, EarlyON program and the library, which will have many great features for residents.

"A full collection as well as a new collection, it has public computers, a wifi bar, there's a hangout space in the lobby. Just a full, new library for the community of Monkton."

Dechert-Sage said with COVID-19 still a concern, the new branch will offer browsing by appointment only, with curb side pickups also available. You can book an appointment by calling the branch itself, the North Perth Libraries number, or by visiting the North Perth Library website. In terms of hours, they have been adjusted to reflect overall usage of the recreation complex.

"So they have changed a little bit from what they have been previously. They are Tuesdays from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., Wednesdays from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursdays from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m."

The EarlyON programming has not started yet but is in the works, and if anyone wants information on the childcare centre and availability there, you can contact the Municipality of North Perth.
