Naloxone to be supplied at Upper Grand schools

Naloxone will soon be supplied in Upper Grand schools and sites.

Staff training is underway, virtually, and once that is complete, the kits will be stored at all schools and board offices in each site’s Automated External Defibrillator box.

Naloxone can temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

In January 2020, trustees approved the implementation of Naloxone in UGDSB schools and board offices as part of first aid protocols, starting in the 2020-21 school year, but plans were put on hold when schools were closed in March due to COVID-19.
