Four new COVID-19 cases, another death reported at retirement home

Huron Perth Public Health has learned of four additional positive cases of COVID-19 at Cedarcroft Retirement Home.

Three of these new cases are residents of the home, and one is a staff person.

HPPH was also saddened to learn of the passing of another resident at the home. The resident, who was in palliative care, had tested positive for COVID-19. “I’m sorry to hear of this loss,” says Dr. Miriam Klassen. Medical Officer of Health for Huron/Perth. “Our hearts are with the person’s family, friends, and caregivers during this time.”

As of Wednesday, there are 13 confirmed cases associated with this outbreak – 10 residents and three staff. All affected residents continue to be cared for at Cedarcroft.

Cedarcroft continues to maintain all outbreak measures to protect their staff and residents, and HPPH continues to support them during this time.

HPPH is also grateful for the community partners who have provided additional support and assistance, including the Huron Perth Health Care Alliance, the South West Local Health Integration Network, and Ontario Health.
