High winds could cause flooding and erosion on the Lake Huron shoreline

The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority is warning of possible flooding as a Colorado Low is forecast to move across Lake Huron on Sunday.

Strong west winds gusting to 90 km/h are expected beginning Sunday afternoon and continuing until Monday afternoon.

There is the potential for coastal flooding and erosion issues due to near-record-high water levels on Lake Huron and a long period of significant waves hitting shoreline areas.

Due to the potential for a secondary event expected to begin on Tuesday, the flood message will remain in effect until 9 a.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2020.

The conservation authority will continue to monitor watershed conditions and will provide an update if required.
