ABCA issues flood warning as high winds move in

The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority has issued a flood warning for areas along the Lake Huron Shoreline.

A large low pressure system is sweeping across southern Ontario this week and is expected to last at least a few days with high winds gusting to over 70 km/h. This could cause flooding in low lying areas as high waves become an issue, and further erosion along the shoreline is expected. Residents and municipal officials are reminded to stay well back from breaking waves, and also to stay away from top-of-bluff areas during and after the storm, in case there has been any movement of the lake bank.

This flood message will stay in effect until 9 a.m. on Thursday, December 3rd. 2020, unless local conditions require further updates.
