App tracks food insecurity in Bruce, Grey

A new app will help local food programs capture and share data to show the impact on their communities.

It's called the Food Bruce Grey App and it was designed by local start-up company NPX in partnership with the United Way of Bruce Grey.

The app allows food banks and meal programs to input information and download reports and dashboards to visualize the impact of food insecurity in their areas. This in turn, according to officials, will tell a 'food story'.

NPX, Bruce Power, and the Community Foundation Grey Bruce provided funding for food scales to enable each program to weigh produce and more accurately capture the amount of food being collected and distributed.

The dashboards can be seen at foodbrucegrey.com.
