Childcare space added in Walkerton

Representatives from the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board joined officials from Brockton and the County of Bruce for an opening ceremony of a new childcare addition at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School in Walkerton.

Ontario Minister of Education Stephen Lecce sent a video message for the celebration, saying "Today's announcement is great news for hard-working Brockton parents".

Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson was on hand for Friday's ceremony, saying "This expansion continues to demonstrates our government's commitment to families in Huron-Bruce". The project provided two additional childcare rooms to support a toddler room and a preschool room, creating 39 additional spaces and costing just over $1.6-million dollars.

In a release, the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board says it is "very pleased to continue out partnership with the Brockton Child Care Centre, demonstrating out mission to ensure quality learning experiences through community partnerships".

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
