United Way Perth Huron halfway to fundraising goal

The United Way Perth Huron celebrated as the annual fundraising campaign reached 50% of its goal.

Campaign Co-chair Martin Ritsma called it an incredible milestone. The campaign goal is $1.76 million.

He said, "whether it’s individuals deciding to give the same or a little more than they did last year to the campaign, or annual workplace campaigns going ahead despite the challenges some have faced during the pandemic, the people of Perth-Huron are showing how committed they are to helping vulnerable and newly vulnerable people during challenging times.”

Realtors Care Week, which took place this year from November 23 to November 27, is an annual national week of volunteer service for realtors and a time to raise awareness about important housing and shelter-related issues. During the week, a group of Perth-Huron realtors raised $6,675 for UWPH.

“As realtors, we want to help build the places we live and work in,” added Stratford realtor June Leitch. “Realtors Care Week shines a light on important issues like homelessness and what we as realtors can do to help. We believe in the work UWPH does locally and by supporting them, we know we’re helping so many in the community.”

Among the initiatives UWPH is involved with is the 12 Days of Giving online auction; featuring a variety of arts and crafts, staycations, tech toys and more. The auction runs until 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 12. To learn more, visit perthhuron.unitedway.ca.
