Brockton to use donation for skating oval and downtown connection

The Municipality of Brockton will use $65,000 in funding from Bruce Power to improve the downtown, and promote mental and physical wellbeing.

$15,000 will go toward an ice skating oval planned for the Lobies Park Campground near Walkerton’s downtown. The funding will help with lighting, equipment and guard shack upgrades for staff to monitor and register guests in order to maintain COVID-19 protocols.

The outdoor skating facility will be open as the weather allows.

$50,000 will help transform a vacant lot into the Durham Street Park development to connect a municipal parking lot with downtown shops and restaurants.

The money from Bruce Power is part of the "Be a Light: Beating COVID-19 Together" campaign.
