Small group protests conservation authority changes at Lisa Thompson's office

Goderich businessman Dean Whalen was one of about twenty people who attended a rally in front of Huron-Bruce M-P-P, Lisa Thompson's office in Blyth Monday morning.

Whelan says his reason for being there was simple, noting “I'm a supporter of the conservation authorities in Ontario and the great work they've been doing over the last five decades or whatever. They're a wonderful organization and they protect our environment and our natural heritage".

Whelan also says “Well certainly once a natural area is paved over or the water courses are changed, no, it's not coming back and we only have so much left, right. So we have to protect what we've got".

The rally was held to show support for conservation authorities in their opposition to part of a Provincial Budget Bill that was passed recently that would take away some of their authority in municipal planning issues.
