Road conditions could deteriorate quickly, weather advisory in effect

An early morning weather advisory is in effect for Huron, Perth, Bruce, Grey and northern areas of Wellington County as a few centimetres of snow has fallen in a short period Wednesday morning.

The radar is showing a large system covering most of the region, dropping a few centimteres of snow onto the ground.

Plows and sanders are out.

Road conditions are described as becoming partly snow covered and the wind could cause some blowing snow in open areas.

The weather advisory also stretches into the late morning and early afternoon. After a short break, more snow, freezing rain and ice pellets are possible as the temperature climbs to three to four degrees for the day.

That will make travel difficult.

The weather advisory also stretches east into the Region of Waterloo and south towards London.

There are also a chance of flurries Thursday and a mix of rain and freezing rain on Friday, New Year's Day.
