Charges laid after police officer allegedly assaulted during arrest

A Goderich resident is facing numerous charges following an alleged assault of a police officer.

On January 2nd at 1:30 p.m., a Huron County OPP officer was patrolling on Gibbons Street in Goderich when he spotted a suspect wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant. The officer confirmed the valid warrant and approached the man to tell him he was going to be taken into custody.

The accused refused to comply and attempted to flee into a residence.

The officer attempted to physically control the accused and in the process of continuing to resist arrest the alleged assault took place. Additional officers responded to the scene and helped take the accused into custody.

Darren Brall, 32, of Goderich has been charged with Resist Peace Officer and Assault a Peace Officer.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 8at the  Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich.

The charges have yet to be proven in court.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
