Grey Bruce OPP getting calls about snowmobiles on closed trails

The Grey Bruce OPP is getting calls about snowmobilers riding on and off trails even though most trails are still closed.

The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs is still prepping the trail system in the region.

Grey Bruce OPP have received complaints from local clubs and area land owners about riders trespassing on their lands and riding around closed gates and access points.

Once the season does kick into high gear, OPP will be patrolling trails and point to a majority of the snowmobile crashes and fatalities they investigate are linked to poor driving behaviours and unnecessary risks.

That includes travelling on unsafe ice, speeding, and alcohol and drug consumption.
