Kincardine firefighters recognized for service

Kincardine firefighters and their spouses were recognized this week.

Four firefighters were presented with the Ontario Long Service Medal for 25 years of service on Monday. The spouses of the recipients are also recognized with an award for playing an important part of supporting the fire service as well.

The medal was first awarded in 1971 and is officially recognized by the province. It was included in the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, 1997.

Firefighters Scott Allen and Murray Harris received the citation as did Acting Captain Andy McIntosh (Retired) and Captain Don Huston.

Presenting the awards were Deputy Chief Matt Cottrill, Deputy Chief Ron Simmons, and Interim Fire Chief Kevin McNeilly.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
