Remembering fire safety while staying at home

Fire Chiefs in Huron County are offering fire safety tips during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as residents spend more time inside their homes.

That includes ensuring you have smoke alarms on every level of your house, and carbon monoxide alarms outside of sleeping areas.

And testing them once a month to make sure they’re in proper working order.

When cooking, never leave your stove unattended.

And charge electronics on a hard surface with the manufacturer’s charging cable.

Fire officials also say planning and practicing a Home Fire Escape Plan is a good idea.
