Huron County looks for affordable housing support

Huron County's Director of Social and Property Services, Barbara Hall, says the county recognizes the desperate need for affordable housing in Huron.

And the County has applied for funding through the Federal government's Rapid Housing Initiative.

It would support the construction of 21 modular apartment units for independent living and would be built in Exeter.

"They're all independent apartment units, so it would be a build that had independent living, so everyone would have a one-bedroom unit with their own kitchen, their own bathroom, their own bedroom, their own living area. Units would meet minimum energy efficiencies and meet accessibility requirements as well," said Hall.

Hall says they should find out sometime in February if the application is successful.
