Home sales in Grey Bruce break records in December

The number of homes sold through the MLS® System of the REALTORS® Association of Grey Bruce Owen Sound broke records last month. The 203 units sold in December, 2020, represented a 50.4% increase from December, 2019 --marking a new sales record for the month. On an annual basis, 2020 home sales totaled 3,379 units, an increase of 13.5% from 2019.

The MLS® Home Price Index benchmark price for single-family homes was $385,700, rising 26.1% on a year-over-year basis in December. The dollar value of all home sales in December 2020 was $112.8 million, more than double the levels from a year earlier and rocketing up 109.3% from the same month in 2019. This was also a new record for the month of December.

There were 144 new residential listings in December 2020. This was up 5.9%  from the end of December 2019. This was the largest number of new listings added in the month of December in five years. Active residential listings numbered 294 units at the end of December. This was a significant decline of 57.8% from the end of December 2019.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
