Workers trying to salvage sinking fishing boat in Bayfield harbour

The Facilities Manager for the Municipality of Bluewater says it's not known at this time what caused a fishing boat in the Bayfield Harbour to start taking on water.

Jeff Newell says the boat was first noticed listing to the starboard side on Sunday morning.

"There's a fishing boat that is listing over to its starboard side along the north shore of the Bayfield Harbour. At this point I don't know of any problems with the boat," said Newell.

On Monday, crews brought in pumps.

"At this point they're bringing pumps onsite to pump the water out of the vessel and bring it up to level. The bottom of that harbour is really variable as far as the depths go, so I'm not sure what the depth of the water is right at that spot," added Newell.
