Ontario Fire Marshals clear the scene of fire that destroyed local motel

The office of the Ontario Fire Marshal has left the scene of a major fire that destroyed a local motel earlier this week.

On January 26th just before 9:45 a.m., the Perth East Fire Department alongside Perth County OPP and Perth County Paramedic Services responded to the blaze at a motel on Forest Road, east of Stratford. The structure was fully engulfed in flames upon the crew's arrival. One person had to be taken to local hospital with minor injuries.

The office of the Ontario Fire Marshal is continuing to investigate the cause of the massive fire. Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
