Petition launched over choice of Kincardine CT Scanner Model

A Kincardine resident has launched a petition urging South Bruce Grey Health Centre to purchase the more expensive Siemens Drive model CT Scanner for Kincardine Hospital.

The petition was launched on Change dot org after the hospital board announced it planned to purchase the less expensive Edge Plus model. The Siemens Edge Plus Model comes with a $1.6M price tag, and will cost about $1.7 M to operate for ten years. The Siemens Drive mode costs $2.3 M, with a 2.2 million dollar ten year operating cost. The Drive model is faster and does a better job with imaging for cardiac and in a few other situations.

So far, about 13 hundred people have signed the petition. The hospital corporation is ready to submit the design plans for the new CT Scanner to the province for approval.
