Wellington North decides to pull ice from Mount Forest, Arthur

The ice will be taken out of the arenas in Mount Forest and Arthur starting this week.

Wellington North Council unanimously endorsed the recommendation from the township's Recreation, Parks and Leisure Committee.

Councillor Steve McCabe, who sits on the committee, said it was a tough decision. But he said the ice season is already pretty well lost and council heard the ice would normally only be in for about another month.

Mayor Andy Lennox suggested that other activities for young people be started to compensate for the lost ice time.
